Introduction

Joan Miro is one of the most important artists of the 20^th century. His work was both innovative and controversial, vibrant and abstract. His attitudes toward art and his plethora of work paved the way for many great artists in the following generations. In his last two decades of life, Miro set up ateliers on the island of Mallorca, where his wife and grandparents were from. The artist continued to work until his death in 1983. In total he produced......This project is study of Miro's 'mature' works, or those which he produced during his last decade of life. In the context of his vast artistic continuum and his very unique attitudes toward abstraction, these works are a vital component- a sort of final chapter. Set apart from his more popular works from the 1920s and 30s, this study hopes to reveal the unique significance of the later works in the grand scheme of Joan Miro's art.
